Dan Aykroyd Pitches ‘Blues Brothers’ TV Series
Dan Aykroyd and Judy Belushi (widow of John Belushi) are pitching an idea for a television series based on The Blues Brothers.
It started as a musical sketch on Saturday Night Live, but became a hit movie in 1980 directed by John Landis. It followed the characters Jake and Elwood Blues, on a “mission from God” to save their childhood orphanage.
Landis and Aykroyd made a sequel in 1998, Blues Brothers 2000, but it was not a critical or financial success.
The pilot script is described as having a recast Jake and Elwood trying to find their real father. Aykroyd would provide the voice of their parole officer.
