Ryan Adams is convinced Johnny Depp has the talent and material to record his own album.
The actor is a keen musician and has previously worked with Adams, Aerosmith and Sir Paul McCartney, as well as famously playing guitar on Oasis’ 1997 record “Be Here Now”.
Adams has now revealed Depp has been storing up guitar licks for a potential release, telling Off The Record magazine, “Johnny probably has 20 or 30 great riffs stored in his phone right now. I don’t know if he’s got enough actual tunes to make an album but he’s definitely got the talent.”
Adams has previously spoken about his work with Depp, telling music website Gigwise, “Sometimes we go through Johnny’s phone because he plays guitar into his voicenotes, so he’ll have some riff or some bridge or some chorus that he’ll have done on a film set somewhere or whatever and he’ll come round and play us a couple and I’ll be like ‘Oh man, let’s put a verse there’… and an hour later the song is done.”
