Chris Pratt and Chris Evans Raised $27,000 for Charity
Marvel superheroes Chris Pratt and Chris Evans raised $27,000 for their favorite charities thanks to their friendly Super Bowl wager.
The Captain America star’s hometown team, the New England Patriots, beat Pratt’s beloved Seattle Seahawks last weekend, and, after losing a bet on the outcome of the big game, Pratt promised to visit Boston, Massachusetts children’s charity Christopher’s Haven dressed as his Guardians of the Galaxy alter ego Star-Lord.
Despite winning the bet,Evans also agreed to visit the Seattle Children’s Hospital dressed as Captain America, and now both stars have raised thousands of dollars for their favorite organizations, thanks to donations from fans around the world.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seattle Children’s Hospital has received nearly $15,000 in donations, while Christopher’s Haven has raked in almost $12,000 thanks to the wager.
Lisa Brandenburg, president of Seattle Children’s Hospital, tells the publication, “We are grateful that real-life superheroes Chris Pratt and Chris Evans are turning their sports rivalry into an opportunity to support kids in their communities.”
Executive director of Christopher’s Haven, Joyce Duvall, adds, “They (Pratt and Evans) turned a simple, friendly wager into something very significant for both Christopher’s Haven and Seattle Children’s Hospital. The fun and goodwill that they have generated will stay with the children a long time.”
