MTV’s ‘Scream’ Debuts to Over 6 Million Viewers
MTV may have found itself a new hit series in the Scream TV series, with last week’s pilot premiering to over 6 million total viewers.
Last week’s premiere episode now ranks as the most-watched new series premiere of the summer on cable with millennials.
“This is a strong start for Scream and, as we head into our second episode and the series’ debut at Comic-Con this weekend, we’ve got a lot of momentum behind the scary, twisty, and ridiculously fun season ahead,” said Susanne Daniels, President of Programming for MTV, in a statement.
It looks like the show could end up being a huge social media hit too, a la Pretty Little Liars, with the episode earning over 54,000 tweets – approximately 15 tweets per second – during its initial airing. #MTVScream trended worldwide on Twitter from approximately 10:15 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Eastern.
The entire cast live-tweeted the premiere episode, with more than 50 celebrities joining in the convo, including Arnold Schwarzenegger and original Scream stars Courteney Cox and Jaimie Kennedy.
