Will Packer Reportedly Sells Drama ‘Buckhead’ to NBC
Super producer Will Packer has landed another TV deal, this time for an Atlanta-focused drama titled Buckhead.
Packer, who is based out of Atlanta, has reportedly sold his new show to NBC, making this his third TV series project to gain traction during his first year producing for TV.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Buckhead is described as a drama about ambition, sex and revenge set in the extravagant, high-stakes world of Atlanta politics, entertainment, churches and strip clubs.”
Packers additional TV projects include NBC’s People Are Talking and ABC’s Uncle Buck remake, in addition to executive producing the upcoming Roots reboot.
Packer’s recent big screen hits include No Good Deed, Think Like a Man and Think Like a Man Too, Ride Along, The Wedding Ringer and many more, including the yet-to be released story of legendary rap group NWA, Straight Outta Compton, which held an Atlanta premiere over the weekend, and Ride Along 2.
If the producer’s series makes it to the screen, this will mark yet another production that’s based in Atlanta, a city whose entertainment industry continues to boom.
Donald Glover’s comedy series Atlanta is the latest show be based in the city and filmed in the city.
