‘Cosmopolitan’ Cover Girl Lauren Conrad on Brody Jenner, Heidi Montag and Being Basic

Lauren Conrad is ready to let the world know what she thinks about everything from being basic to her love of fashion to The Hills, including her current feelings about former co-stars Heidi Montag and Brody Jenner.

The fashion designer and businesswoman is Cosmopolitan‘s newest cover girl and she held nothing back in her interview with the mag. Between being married and running her hugely successful line for Kohl’s, Conrad may be far removed from her reality TV days, but that doesn’t mean she has no thoughts on what some of her former co-stars are up to now.

When asked if she had any thoughts about Heidi Montag proclaiming that she forgave Lauren for “trying to ruin [her] life”, Conrad replied, “No… I’m not really involved in that anymore. I don’t think it has anything to do with me. You just have to focus on the good people in your life. Focusing on what you lose is only going to make you sad.”

As far as her experience from her time on The Hills, Lauren admits that doing the show actually gave her thicker skin. “When I did television, scandal was always around me. And I think one of the best things [about that] for me is that your life becomes more big picture,”she explained. “You have to develop a thick skin really quickly. It toughened me up, which is good.”

Conrad’s ex-boyfriend Brody Jenner will be hosting his own sex- and dating- advice show on E! soon and Lauren’s thoughts about it are pretty funny…and probably accurate. “My husband told me [about it]. I didn’t know!… He has a lot of experience… so sure, depending on what kind of advice you want.”

Lauren’s main focus right now, however, is conquering her first runway presentation for fashion line which is a dream come true for any designer and according to her, getting into fashion was always the plan. “Television was just sort of an accident… I never felt really strongly about it. But fashion is something I feel passionate about. If I hadn’t done TV, I still would have ended up in the [fashion] industry, but I definitely wouldn’t be in the position I am now.”

Finally, although she’s grown up with a silver spoon in her mouth, Conrad surprisingly can identify most with being pretty basic. “I probably am pretty basic. But I’m also a pretty happy person, so that’s okay with me.”
