Can ‘Dead List’ Be the New ‘Creepshow’?

Creepshow is my favorite horror film of all time. The collection of stories brought to life by Stephen King and George A. Romero is an uncontested classic in my eyes. It combined the gross visuals of EC Comics “Tales from the Crypt” and loaded each tale with some of the best genre actors in existence… I love you Tom Atkins!

Now, over the years a number of films have claimed to capture the spirit of the original, including the laughable Creepshow 3. Few have succeeded in taking me back to that time where a little bit of camp, a lot of makeup, and a few amazing actors could burn an experience into my brain. Yet, that just may be what directors Holden Andrews, Ivan Asen, and Victor Matieu can pull off with Dead List.

After watching the trailer, there were cues that tugged at those Creepshow strings. Some of it was the music, some of it was the gooey blood. Judge for yourselves and let me know what you think in the comments. You can catch Dead List on DVD this month.

Synopsis:
A struggling actor conjures a dark force in order to win a movie role in a terrifying new movie experience from filmmakers Holden Andrews, Ivan Asen and Victor Mathieu.

Calvin is competing with five other actors — Zander, Scott, Kush, Jason and Bob — for a major movie role. Stopping at nothing to win the role of a lifetime, he uses a demonic book to curse his fellow actors, with each actor being killed off in their own separate unique and terrifying chapter.
