‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Is Officially a Go! Here’s What We Know!

Stranger Things Season 3

Stranger Things Season 4 is happening! The news was officially announced today on Stranger Things‘ social media accounts!

The brains behind our favorite series, the Duffer brothers, have signed a multiple-year overall contract with Netflix worth 9 figures! This news comes roughly 3 months after the 3 Season premiered on Netflix and left fans with quite the cliffhanger.

One thing we know for sure about the next season from today’s teaser – it looks like we’re not in Hawkins anymore.

“The Duffer Brothers have captivated viewers around the world with Stranger Things and we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with them to bring their vivid imaginations to other film and series projects our members will love,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “We can’t wait to see what the Duffer Brothers have in store when they step outside the world of the Upside Down.”

The Duffer brothers also commented on the news saying: “We are absolutely thrilled to continue our relationship with Netflix. Back in early 2015, Ted Sarandos, Cindy Holland, Brian Wright, and Matt Thunell took a huge chance on us and our show — and forever changed our lives. From that first pitch meeting to the release of Stranger Things 3, the entire Netflix team has been nothing short of sensational, providing us with the kind of support, guidance and creative freedom we always dreamed about. We can’t wait to tell many more stories together — beginning, of course, with a return trip to Hawkins!”

It’s clear from the news today that we’ll see more coming from the Duffer Brothers than just a return to the Upside Down, but it’s unclear if Season 4 will be the last season of the series. The brothers have been open about the series not being a long-running show. In previous interviews, they’ve said they see it running between four and six years.

While there isn’t a return date set yet for Stranger Things Season 4, we’ve heard that casting for the next season is currently underway in Atlanta where the previous three seasons have shot. We’ll keep you posted as more news and sightings happen!

Another really cool fact we learned today – on July 8, there were 40.7 million households that tuned in to stream the new season of Stranger Things. Netflix typically does not release viewership data, so this was pretty big news! A huge to congrats to Netflix, the Duffer Brothers, and the cast and crew for the on-going success of this series. We can’t wait for Stranger Things Season 4!
