The CW Plans to Film and Air ‘Supernatural’ Final Episodes in 2020

One thing pop culture fans look forward to each year is the fall return of their favorite shows. From Greys Anatomy to This Is Us, we sit down in front of our televisions and tune in to see stories continue. It’s like visiting an old friend and we really look forward to it.

With COVID-19 shutting down production on tv shows and films, things this fall are sure to look a little different. Just days ago, a major network shared a delayed schedule for their usual fall line up.

The CW is one of the first networks to mention scheduling for later this year.

CEO and Chairman of CW Mark Pedowitz had this to say to reporters.

“Of course, for original scripted series, we do not have an exact return of production yet. We are going with this strategy to give producers and studios ample time to get back up and running in the best and safest way possible. Strategy and protocols are still being developed. What other broadcasters do is up to them. For The CW, this is right for us.”

One series not affected by the delay – for now – is Supernatural. That is something fans are excited about. It’s bittersweet to be anticipating the end of a series, but right now, a lot is left unfinished. That’s because there are five episodes left before the big finale.

Three episodes have been shot – with the final two needing to be filmed. Currently, a plan is in action to get the ball rolling so fans can see the episodes this fall.

Pedowitz had this to say about resuming production on Supernatural.

“Jared and Jensen will go back to finish the last two and then Jared will go off to work on Walker. We hope they will start shooting Supernatural late summer early fall. If not, we’ll be flexible in our schedule. We all want to end the 15 years the right way. It’s important that these two episodes will be done the way they hope to do them. If not, we’ll wait it out.”

Staying true to Supernatural is important to the cast and crew as well as fans. It’s been an incredible journey for everyone involved. We’ll keep you up to date with any new information we see as soon as we can.

Until then, now’s a perfect time to binge your favorite episodes – we know we will be.
