Hit & Run
One of the latest espionage, crime dramas on Netflix is ‘Hit & Run’ and I was hooked on it from the first episode (there are 9 in all). The problem with that is I was hoping that all episodes would hold up to the excitement and intrigue of the first one and while for the most part they do, there are some episodes that just lack what I expected. However, with that being said, I still recommend the series as I could not wait to get to the next episode to what was going to happen next and that is the sign of a good show.
The story opens in a prison yard where we see a prisoner get shanked and then it flashes back to show the audience how things built up to this point. The central character is Segev Azulai, played by Lior Raz, who is a tour guide in Israel and is married to Danielle Wexler, played by Kaelen Ohm, who is a dancer. Segev also has a daughter from a previous marriage. Danielle is scheduled to leave and go to New York for an audition that would be a break for her. Segev really does not want her to go but he os completely in love with her and does not want to hold her back. Before leaving to go on her trip, Danielle stop and buys copy to stop and drink it with someone (we don’t know who) but as she crosses the street she is distracted and is killed in a hit-and-run ‘accident.’ Segev plays things over and over in his head about what has happened. He has Danielle’s phone and sees where an unknown number has been trying to reach her. He calls it back and a man answers who says he has the wrong number. This is where the mystery begins as Segev works to figure out who this mystery person in and the more he digs, of course the more he unravels. It appears Danielle is not who he thought she was.
The thing about this series is it plays in New York as well as Israel and there are quite a few characters to keep up with. So needless to say it can get a little confusing at times to keep up with all the action going on but it is worth the investment. As mentioned previously, some episodes are not as up to par as the others but it is still a good series.
Which I am glad to say because it appears that after just watching the ending of episode 9, we could be seeing more of Segev as the story can definitely continue.
