‘The Walking Dead’ Companion Series Finds Its Male Lead

The Walking Dead‘s companion series has cast the man who will lead a group of survivors through Zombie-overrun territory.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Cliff Curtis, whom some may recognize from his role as Javier Acosta in FOX’s now canceled drama Gang Related, has landed the lead role of Sean Cabrera, described as “a teacher who shares a son with his ex-wife, Andrea. The character is described as a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.”

The news follows the recent casting of Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey, who will be portraying the kids of yet-to-be-cast Nancy Tomkins, a guidance counselor who works at the school with Curtis’ Sean. Dillane’s character Nick has a drug abuse past and Carey will play ambitious Ashley.

The untitled series will follow an entirely new group of survivors, in a new location, during the zombie apocalypse.
