Missy Elliott Overwhelmed by Super Bowl Performance Response

Missy Elliott was stunned by the reaction to her appearance onstage during the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday night, confessing she didn’t realise how much she was missed until the big gig.

The acclaimed MC, who has stayed out of the spotlight over the past decade, made a big comeback at the Super Bowl after headliner Katy Perry invited the rapper to perform a few of her hits during the “Roar” hitmaker’s set.

After performing “Get Ur Freak On,” “Work It” and “Lose Control,” fans, including many celebrities, took to social media to salute Elliott for her showstopping set and long-awaited return to music.

She in turn shared her gratitude for the tremendous amount of support on Twitter, writing: “Thank u all for the outpouring of love @ the SuperBowl! & @katyperry I’m humbly grateful for u inviting me to join u (sic).”

Elliott, who revealed hyperthyroid disorder Graves’ disease had prevented her from creating new songs in 2011, went on to admit she never dreamed of such a warm welcome back to music.
