Quentin Tarantino is upset with Disney executives after hearing they blocked his plans to launch The Hateful Eight at Hollywood’s Arclight Cinerama Dome.

Tarantino tells EW.com he had hoped the western would open in the Dome on Christmas Day, but Disney chiefs told Arclight bosses they would pull the new Star Wars film from their cinemas if they replaced it with Tarantino’s latest masterpiece.

“A couple of days ago… the Disney distribution people came down to the ArcLight and said, ‘You’re going to break your commitment with The Hateful Eight and you’re going to not give them the theatre on December 25th,” Tarantino claims. “(They said) ‘You’re going to play Star Wars throughout the holiday season. And if you don’t, we’re going to pull the biggest movie ever made; we’re going to pull it from all the Arclight theaters’.

“So they actually, literally, are engaging in extortionist practices against us… They’re coming out to destroy us, to grind us into the gravel.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens everywhere tomorrow and midnight screenings start tonight, a week before Tarantino’s new movie hits cinemas in America.
