5 New Movies Coming Out This Week: ‘Halloween Ends’, ‘Till’, and More!
Curious what the new movies coming out this week are? To get you in the spirit of Halloween, a certain masked man is coming back one more time to bother Laurie Strode and maybe kill a few people along the way.
There are five new movies coming out this week, and i’’s quite a mixture! There’s Jamie Lee Curtis returning to battle Michael Myers in Halloween Ends. The story that changed a nation in Till, and a fun Halloween comedy, The Curse of Bridge Hollow, starring Marlon Wayans.

New Movies Coming Out This Week: October 10, 2022 – October 16, 2022
Halloween Ends (2022)
Rating: R
Release Date: In theaters nationwide and on the Peacock platform on Friday, October 14, 2022.
Summary: In Halloween Ends, Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) has finally found peace and put the whole specter of Michael Myers behind her. When a young man, Corey (Rohan Campbell), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, igniting a cascade of violence and terror that can only be the work of one person… Michael.
What to Watch For: There is a four-year time gap between the end of Halloween Kills and this film.
Word on the Street: Jamie Lee Curtis is saying this is the last time she will portray Laurie. However, she has said this after a few other Halloween films in the past.
My Take: The original Halloween is one of my all-time favorite horror films.
Till (2022)
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: In theaters nationwide on Friday, October 14, 2022.
Summary: Till takes place In 1955 when Emmett Till was murdered in a brutal lynching in Mississippi. His mother, Mamie Till-Mobley (Danielle Deadwyler), vowed to show the world what they did to her son and, in doing so, undoubtedly changed a nation.
What to Watch For: The film was produced by Whoopi Goldberg, who also appears in the film as Alma Carthan.
Word on the Street: The movie is from filmmaker Chinonye Chukwu, known for the award-winning 2019 film Clemency.
My Take: Keith Beauchamp, who co-wrote ‘Till,’ made the 2005 documentary The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till, which won the Freedom of Expression Award from the National Board of Review.
Rosaline (2022)
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: Premiering on Hulu on Friday, October 14, 2022.
Summary: Rosaline is a comedic retelling of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’, told from the point of view of Romeo’s jilted ex, Rosaline (Kaitlyn Dever). Rosaline was the woman Romeo first claimed to love before he dumped her for Juliet, and Juliet isn’t too happy about it.
What to Watch For: The cast includes Isabela Merced as Juliet, Kyle Allen as Romeo, Bradley Whitford as Adrian Capulet, and Minnie Driver as Nurse Janet.
Word on the Street: The film was in development for over ten years, with actors like Keira Knightley, Hailee Steinfeld, Deborah Ann Woll, and Dave Franco all attached to the movie at some point.
My Take: I love the tagline for the film: “The love story you know, the ex you don’t.”
Stars at Noon (2022)
Rating: R
Release Date: In select theatres on Friday, October 14, 2022.
Summary: Stars at Noon takes place in 1984 Nicaragua, where an English businessman (Joe Alwyn) and an American journalist (Margaret Qualley) meet at a bar and start a passionate romance. Be careful who you fall into bed with. It could get you into a dangerous labyrinth of lies, murder, and conspiracies you might never escape.
What to Watch For: The film is from director Claire Denis, the award-winning filmmaker of Chocolat (1988) and High Life (2018).
Word on the Street: The film is based on the novel by Denis Johnson.
My Take: I am a big fan of Margaret Qualley, who has been nominated for two Emmy’s including her supporting role as Ann Reinking in the mini-series Fosse/Verdon.
The Curse of Bridge Hollow (2022)
Rating: TV-14
Release Date: Premiering on Netflix on Friday, October 14, 2022.
Summary: The Curse of Bridge Hollow begins when Sydney (Priah Ferguson) and her family move to a new town that takes Halloween very seriously. Unfortunately, Sydney has accidentally released an ancient curse that causes all the decorations to come alive in the town. It’s up to Sydney to save the town. But she will need help from the last person she wants to team up with, her dad (Marlon Wayans).
What to Watch For: The very funny cast includes Nia Vardalos, Rob Riggle, Lauren Lapkus, and Kelly Rowland.
My Take: I love Lauren Lapkus, who played Denise, comic book store owner Stuart’s girlfriend on The Big Bang Theory.
