Lili Reinhart Describes Her Time on ‘Riverdale’ as an “Education”

With Riverdale Season 7 in the not-so-distance future, star Lili Reinhart has been reflecting on her time on the hit CW series.

Reinhart, 26, was initially cast as Betty Cooper on the show in 2017. And she admits that she’s learned a lot from the role, calling it a life-changing experience.

“I was 19 when I was cast as Betty,” Reinhart recalls. “I’ve spent practically my entire adult life playing her. It was quite an education: I was in a famous relationship [with co-star Cole Sprouse], and ‘Riverdale’ was my introduction to fame. What a trip that is.”

Riverdale Season 7 will be the last season of the series. And it’s set to premiere in 2023. With the show wrapping up, Reinhart knows there will be no shortage of emotions during her last days on set.

It was – and is – the biggest chapter of my life,” Reinhart confesses to W Magazine. “There will be lots of tears and lots of laughs on the final day. I have this forever time capsule of my 20s. I can imagine my future children asking about my life, and I’ll just put them in front of whatever screening service will still be showing ‘Riverdale’ reruns.”

What’s Next for Lili Reinhart

Fans needn’t worry about where they’ll see Lili Reinhart next. She won’t be disappearing from our screens anytime soon as she’s signed a production deal with Amazon. Additionally, she also starred in and produced the rom-com Look Both Ways for Netflix, which just premiered in August 2022.

“I want to keep pivoting from one genre to another. After doing a romance, I want to go in the opposite direction. I will never play the same characters twice.” Reinhart states.

When asked about what types of roles she’d like to explore next, Reinhart has a clear picture of what she’d like to do. 

“I would like to play a villain,” Reinhart reveals. “I have the motivation: I recently had to leave my dog, Milo, alone in a hotel room, and I thought, If someone steals my dog, I’ll go John Wick on their a****! That would turn me into a villain so fast.”

“Maybe that’s next for me: playing an evil woman out for revenge. I have my origin story: don’t mess with my dog.” she adds.
