It doesn’t take much to fall in love with Netflix’s Emily in Paris. The hit series first premiered in 2020, and its stunning filming locations have had many fans asking, where is Emily in Paris filmed? From its locations in Paris proper to its excursions to Provence and Saint Tropez, we’ve got you covered.

But first, let’s dive into the history of the show. The series is created by Darren Star, who is also responsible for other series that we also fell in love with, like Sex and the City, Beverly Hills 90210, and Melrose Place. 

The show follows Emily, played by Lily Collins, as she makes a huge career change and travels from Chicago all the way to Paris as she takes on a new marketing job with a French employer. The rest of the cast includes Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie, Ashley Park as Mindy, and Lucas Bravo as Gabriel.

In December, Season 3 premiered. And as were taken along on yet another exciting adventure (and fairly upsetting season finale), fans had a whole new batch of Emily in Paris filming locations for Season 3 to fall in love with. Eiffel Tower

No show set in Paris would be complete without at least a couple of scenes featuring the Eiffel Tower. And Emily in Paris has plenty of such scenes throughout the entire series.

Season 3 begins with Emily at the top of the tower with Madeline and Sylvie, who are both confronting her. The scene is actually a bad dream that Emily was having. 

The exact location for the scene was actually the restaurant located inside the tower, the Le Jules Verne. Anne Seibel, production designer for the series, notes that the show didn’t alter the restaurant at all for filming.

Season 3 – Episode 2

The second episode of Season 3 closes at the Quai des Célestins, a street that runs alongside the Seine in Paris’ 4th arrondissement. This is where Emily performs a gesture of romance for Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) during the Fête de la Musique.

Season 3 – Episode 6

Almost all the scenes of Season 3 were filmed in Paris save for a few rare occurrences. One such instance was when the production team headed to Provence. All the cast and crew were captivated by the beauty of the land, as are the audiences. In this idyllic setting, Emily and her love interest Gabriel take a sumptuous meal in Episode 6.

The L’Esprit de Luberon restaurant they dine at is a real location called Clover Gordes, it’s part of the Airelles Hotel in Gordes. It also overlooks the most memorable scene location from this episode is the stunning lavender fields.

It’s important to note that if you’re looking to visit the fields, you need to schedule your visit during peak bloom. Tour companies in the area note that mid-June to mid-August is the window you want to arrive in, with July being the ideal month.

Season 3 – Episode 9

This world-famous Musée d’Orsay is one of Paris’ most enchanting musems. And to many, this author included, it’s even better than Paris’ most notable museum, the Louvre.

The location holds a little bit of a back story for Gabriel and Camille, as they had their first date at the museum. And when the couple visits it during Season 3, Camille asks Gabriel to marry her, without mentioning her affair.

Lapérouse

Season 3 – Episode 9

Also in the ninth episode of Season 3, Mindy’s new love interest Nicolas excludes Emily from Mindy’s get-together, which results in a rift in the friendship between the two characters.

This scene takes place in the Lapérouse restaurant, which is a bit of a Parisian institution itself. With connections to the fashion world, it also has no shortage of societal scandals as well. It was the first restaurant to be awarded three Michelin stars back in 1933, and it’s not stepped out of the limelight since.

The culmination of season 3 takes place at Domaine de Lalisse, Camille’s family chateau. In reality, the property is actually Château de Sonnay, which is a French castle that is currently a winery. It is open to the public so you can book a visit the next time you go on a French vacation.

As Emily’s apartment, the Place de l’Estrapade is probably one of the most familiar locations to the show’s avid fans. It is located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris and features a beautiful fountain right in the middle. The building is just one of many along the rue des Fossés Saint-Jacques that appear in the show.

It’s also one of the more memorable locations from Season 2, Episode 3, with Emily’s birthday party.

Savoir, Sylvie’s marketing company where Emily works, is situated in the charming historic square called Place de Valois. Nestled right in the middle of the 1st arrondissement, this enchanting place offers an endless array of things to see and experience.

It is also home to Jardin du Palais-Royal, where Emily and Mindy meet for the first time. Right beside the garden is the Palais-Royal. This is also the location of Pont Neuf, a famous bridge that would play a significant part in the second and third seasons of Emily in Paris.

This extravagant and luxurious bridge, from which you could clearly sight the Champs-Elysées, was one of the paths that Emily traversed in her Parisian journey. It’s also the location that Antonie uses to shoot his new perfume commercial in Season 1.

Rue de L’Abreuvoir has earned the title of the prettiest street in Paris for obvious reasons. It is therefore only to be expected that this street takes center stage in many scenes of the series. For instance, in Season 1 (Episode 5), Emily has dinner with Mindy at La Maison Rose, one of the charming cafés in the rue.

Season 2 – Episode 2

The second season kicked off with Emily going on vacation to St. Tropez with Camille and Mindy. The girls arrive at the station of Villefranche-sur-Mer and spend their time at the Grand Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat. It’s reported that the production team actually spent the next few weeks at the hotel because it coincided with the lockdown for COVID-19.

Gare du Nord

Season 2

Gare du Nord is a train station that has become an iconic stop in Paris. It’s one of six major train stations in the city. It’s at this location that Emily welcomes Alfie back to Paris once he returns from London.

Season 2 – Episode 3

It’s not necessarily a top choice for dining but in Season 2, we follow Emily to the Pere Lachaise Cemetery, where she has lunch with Luc. It is an actual cemetery where many famous personalities have been laid to rest, such as Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, and Edith Piaf. The grave that Emily visited in the episode was that of French novelist and playwright Honore de Balzac.

Le Raidd

Season 2

Le Raidd is one of the trendiest places in the gay nightlife in Paris. In efforts to track down Gregory Dupree, Emily and Julien make a visit to the bar, which has been named by Time Out magazine as one of the 100 Top Bars in Paris.

Season 2 – Episode 10

Season 2 closes with a huge fashion show in the Palace of Versailles. Previously a residence for the French royal family, it is now a World Heritage site used for concerts, art shows, and similar events.

Throughout the three seasons of the show so far, the cast and crew of Emily in Paris have thoroughly explored the City of Lights. For a complete list of places that appeared in the series, there would be hundreds. Other than the ones we listed above, there are many other Parisian sites that can be seen in the show, even briefly.

For instance, you can see famous landmarks in the background of various scenes. The Eiffel Tower lights up the launch party at Café de l’Homme. Emily also spends quite a bit of time in the Jardin du Luxembourg. When Emily and Doug part ways, it happens in front of the Pantheon. And of course, there are countless cafes and shops that you can catch a glimpse of during the course of the show!

Emily in Paris Season 4 Is Coming Soon!

There is growing anticipation among fans for Emily in Paris Season 4, which was filmed at the same time as Season 3. So it’s possible we could see the return of the series as early as December 2023. While we don’t know the exact release date, we do know that we can expect to see many more gorgeous filming locations in the new season!
