Is ‘Wonder Woman 3’ Finally Happening? Gal Gadot, James Gunn, and Peter Safran Tease New DC Movie
Gal Gadot is teaming up with DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran to develop Wonder Woman 3. This news comes despite previous reports suggesting the project was not moving forward.
During Netflix’s Tudum fan festival in June, Gadot hinted at the possibility of reprising her role as the titular superhero.
“Things are being worked behind the scenes and once the right moment arrives, you’ll know about it,” Gadot said in an interview with Entertainment tonight.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, the 38-year-old actress confirmed the movie’s existence. Gadot said, “From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a ‘Wonder Woman 3’ together.”
Last December, Gadot, who was expected to be in line for a $20 million paycheck from the third Wonder Woman, admitted she was “so grateful” to have starred as such an “iconic character” in two movies.
She tweeted: “A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character. And more than anything I’m grateful for YOU. The fans. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you (sic)”
Patty Jenkins’ Initial Wonder Woman 3 Plans
Patty Jenkins’ initial plan for Wonder Woman 3 faced obstacles when reports surfaced that the project did not align with the latest DC plans. This led to doubts about whether the film would continue.
However, Jenkins clarified on her Twitter account that she did not walk away from the Wonder Woman franchise. She noted that she was open to considering any requests regarding the third film. Additionally, she also acknowledged the difficulties DC was facing amid organizational changes. And she understood that decisions were challenging at that time.
In part of a statement released on her Twitter account, she wrote at the time: “When there started being backlash about WW3 not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me that killed it or walked away started to spread.
“This is simply not true. I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now. (sic)”
Wonder Woman 3 is now back on track, as Gal Gadot, James Gunn, and Peter Safran are joining forces to bring the project to life. Once the WGA and SAG strikes end and the unions and the studios reach a resolution, further details will likely emerge.
