The Morning Show Returns for Seasons 3 and 4

At the end of July, The Morning Show released a teaser trailer of what’s to come for the characters in season three. The trailer didn’t touch on exact storylines. Though, it does include a line from one of the show’s new characters, played by Jon Hamm.

“You need a miracle, I’m offering you a lifeline.”

Could this mean the network’s in trouble? On August 24, another trailer dropped giving us a little more insight into what’s to come this season.

The official synopsis by Apple TV+ on The Morning Show Season 3 reads:

“This season, the future of the network is thrown into question and loyalties are pushed to the brink when a tech titan takes an interest in UBA. Unexpected alliances form, private truths are weaponized, and everyone is forced to confront their core values both in and out of the newsroom.”

Another positive note for fans, The Morning Show Season 4 has been confirmed as well. The news came in May from Apple, months ahead of season three’s release.

What Happened in Season 2?

It’s March 2020 and the world is starting to lock down because of the pandemic. Alex quarantines at home while dealing with the fallout over her confession that she traveled to Italy to confront former co-host, Mitch. In a segment, Alex decides to report on her experience getting COVID.

Bradley tracks down her addict brother Hal. Cory offers to help her in looking for Hal and tells Bradley he’s in love with her. When they find Hal, he’s sober but in a hospital full of COVID patients.

What to Expect for Season 3

Then-showrunner for The Morning Show Kerry Ehrin told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021 that anything is possible. Ehrin is now serving as a consultant, with Charlotte Stoudt taking over as The Morning Show showrunner.

“It’s such an interesting little universe,” said Ehrin at the time. “You really can put it anywhere in time and I think the challenge of the show is coming up with that big subject. Because those are real subjects. They’re not fabricated. They’re pulled from all our lives and they greatly impacted all of us, and I think that’s always the challenge of the show.”

Separately, Ehrin told Deadline that she wants to see more of the love triangle between Laura, Bradley, and Cory. “I definitely want to see more of Bradley and Laura,” said Ehrin.

Jon Hamm’s Character

Witherspoon also described Hamm’s character as “very complex” as he’s introduced into the new season.

“He’s a media mogul, and he gives Billy Crudup a run for his money which I think is the most fun part too, because Billy could eat a scene like I’ve never seen somebody eat a scene, and Hamm gets to come in and give him a great foil,” Witherspoon told Deadline in August 2022.

Romance in the Third Season

Anison teased that there will be a lot of romance in the coming season.

“Nothing’s funny about Morning Show. I’m kidding. There’s a lot of romance this year, and a lot of secrets that will be revealed,” said the FRIENDS star during promos for Murder Mystery 2.

Aniston also hinted at what Alex will be going through in the third season.

“I think it’s time to see Alex find some love and some passion. She could put the controls down and go into the vulnerability of opening up her heart, which I don’t think she’s ever really done,” said the actress.

The Morning Show Season 3 Release Date

The Morning Show Season 3 will be available to watch on Apple TV+ on September 13. The first two episodes out of 10 will be available to watch on its premiere date. The upcoming season also comes almost two years after season two, which ended in November 2021.

Season 4 poses some scheduling challenges surrounding Aniston and Witherspoon’s contracts that were set to end after the third season. It wouldn’t be surprising that negotiations are underway for the fourth season.

Until then, fans can rewatch the first two seasons to be up to speed for season three.
