‘Ginny & Georgia’ Season 3: Filming Set to Begin in April 2024 in Toronto
Ginny & Georgia Season 3 is finally gearing up for filming! Production on the beloved Netflix series on April 29th in Toronto. The show was renewed for Seasons 3 and 4 in May 2023, and it initially headed back into active development. However, the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes delayed production.
Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming season. Though, watch out for spoilers if you’ve not watched Season 2!
Ginny & Georgia Returns for Season 3 & 4
In May 2023, Netflix gave the go signal for Ginny & Georgia Season 3 and Season 4 during their Upfronts presentation. This came just a few months after the show’s second season aired in January 2023. Following Season 2, the series even received its first Emmy nomination for Original Music and Lyrics.
Ginny & Georgia creator Sarah Lampert also posted on Instagram the news of the show’s renewal for two more seasons.
“You guys don’t even realize what’s coming for you,” said Lampert.
Prior to the renewal announcement, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said the show was a success for the streaming network.
“…Sometimes that’s also content that’s uniquely interesting to Americans that doesn’t travel internationally. We have the show Ginny and Georgia right now. That’s a phenomenal US success,” said Sarandos.
Ginny & Georgia initially got some buzz thanks to an incident involving Taylor Swift. Swift at the time, criticized one of the jokes about her on the show. But since then, Ginny & Georgia continued to rake in more viewers. The first and second seasons made it to Netflix’s all-time most-watched list at some point.
Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back. How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse shit as FuNnY. Also, @netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn’t look cute on you 💔 Happy Women’s History Month I guess pic.twitter.com/2X0jEOXIWp

Aside from the renewal, Deadline reported that Sarah Glinski replaced Debra J. Fisher as showrunner for the coming seasons. Fisher was involved in the show since the first season. At the time of the announcement, there were also rumors of tension between Fisher and Lampert.
Ginny & Georgia Cast
As for the cast, fans can expect Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry to return as the titular characters Georgia and Ginny Miller. Other stars expected to return include Diesel La Torraca as Austin Miller, Jennifer Robertson as Ellen Baker, Felix Mallard as Marcus Baker, Sara Waisglass as Maxine “Max” Baker, Scott Porter as Mayor Paul Randolph, Raymond Ablack as Joe, Mason Temple as Hunter Chen, Katie Douglas as Abby, Chelsea Clark as Norah, Jonathan Potts as Mr. Gitten, Sabrina Grdevich as Cynthia Fuller, Colton Gobbo as Jordan, Connor Laidman as Zach, Nathan Mitchell as Zion Miller, Rebecca Ablack as Padma, Daniel Beirne as Nick, and Aaron Ashmore as Gil Timmins.
There’s also the cast for the flashbacks as well. Nikki Roumel and Kyle Bary are expected to return as the younger versions of Georgia and Zion respectively.
Speaking to DigitalSpy, Mitchell said he’s keen on returning for season 3.
“I loved it. It was phenomenal. I love every second I get to spend with this cast,” said Mitchell about his experience filming the second season.
“Just getting to dive more into Zion and to explore what his dynamics with his parents are like, what the co-parenting relationship with Georgia is like, getting to see him really be there for Ginny in moments that matter. All of that was really a joy to explore,” said Mitchell.
Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Plot
While there’s no word on the plots for season three, Mitchell said he hopes “to see where things go with Simone.”
“I think it’s always fun when you throw Georgia in the mix there, where you have those three together, and have them navigate this new dynamic that they exist in,” said Mitchell. So does that mean we’ll see more of Vinessa Antoine as Simone? That can only mean more drama ahead.
Sara Waisglass told E! What she hoped would be in store for her character Max in Ginny & Georgia Season 3.
“She’s obviously a lover and she wants to be with as many people who will show her love as possible. But I think that love needs to come from her and I really hope that is something that she can learn,” said Waisglass about her character.
Damian Romeo, who plays Matt Press, said he hopes the writers can take his character in a “new direction” in the coming season. Matt appears a lot in season two as he and Abby start a relationship. Romeo thinks there’s more to Matt than what he lets on.
“I think every episode and every season, we are digging with a chisel right now. And I’d like them for season three to take a shovel,” Romeo told Express. “I love the producers, the team, everyone we shoot with. We are like a big family, so of course, if they invite me back for a third season, I’ll be there.”
What Happened in Season 2?
Ginny & Georgia season two left fans with a lot of questions. Marcus breaks up with Ginny after he falls into a depressive episode. Ginny eventually reaches out to Marcus to give her support to him and what he’s going through.
Meanwhile, Georgia and Paul get married only for the wedding to go downhill when the police come in and arrest Georgia. Georgia’s arrested for the murder of Cynthia’s husband Tom. Georgia smothered Tom after Cynthia shared with her that she was ready for her already terminally ill husband, to no longer suffer.
Georgia’s arrest happened not long after Gabriel the private investigator learned that Georgia was present in the room when Tom died.
Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Release Date Speculation & News
Currently, Netflix has not announced a Ginny and Georgia Season 3 release date. The show’s renewal came in the midst of the WGA strike, which was followed in July 2023 by the SAG-AFTRA strike. The strikes, though now resolved, put many productions on hold, including Ginny & Georgia.
Production is gearing up to begin filming in Toronto starting on April 29th and continuing through September 2, 2024, under the working titles “Common Ground” and “Tulips & Tuxes.” With this filming timeline, it’s possible we could see new episodes by late 2024, but we think that a 2025 release date is more likely.
For now, fans can now rewatch the show’s first two seasons on Netflix.
