Fall is the time of year when so many new shows premiere or release their newest season. However, 2023 is a little different with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes disrupting network and streaming platform schedules.

Sex Education Season 4

The fourth and final season of Sex Education is coming back to Netflix this September! Moordale Secondary was closed down, and most of the cast of characters is now at a school that’s radically more progressive. Otis (Asa Butterfield) isn’t the only sex therapist in the school either while Maeve (Emma Mackey) pursues her academic dreams in the US.

Most of the show’s main stars are returning for the final season along with new faces like Dan Levy and Jodie Turner-Smith. Aside from Butterfield and Mackey, fans can look forward to seeing Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells, Aimee Lou Wood, Mimi Keene, and Gillian Anderson again.

Sex Education Season 4 premieres on September 21, 2023, on Netflix.

Gen V

A spinoff of the highly popular The Boys, Gen V looks into a younger class of superheroes at Godolkin University. These superpowered individuals are competing against each other to be at the top of the class. All the while they party, pursue popularity, and try to control their powers.

The spinoff is described to be like the Hunger Games, but a bloodier, grittier take with some cameos from The Boys included. Gen V stars Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, and Asa Germann.

Gen V premieres on September 29, 2023, on Prime Video

Bargain

The upcoming South Korean series is the K-drama adaptation of the 2015 short film of the same name. Noh Hyung-soo (Jin Sun-kyu) falls victim to Park Joo-young (Jun Jong-Seo), who helps run a human organ trafficking syndicate. To make things worse, an earthquake traps Hyung-soo in a building full of hungry buyers who were hoping to acquire his kidney just before.

The show has already received several awards including Best Screenplay at the Canneseries Festival. Bargain is also set to premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.

It also stars Chang Ryul, Park Hyoung-soo, Shin Jae-hwi, Moon Jin-Seung, Jo Han-joon, Jung Hoe-rin, Kang Gil-woo, Park Jin, and Jung In-gyeom.

Bargain premieres on October 5, 2023, on Paramount+.

Lupin Season 3

Season 3 of Lupin is returning is returning this fall. Gentleman thief and master of disguise Assane Diop (Omar Sy) is staying undercover, but it proves to be a challenge in France where he’s the most wanted man. It doesn’t help that his sworn enemy Hubert Pellegrini (Herve Pierre) framing him for murder is the reason why.

The show also stars Ludivine Sagnier, Clotilde Hesme, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Vincent Londez, Vincent Garanger, and Shirine Boutella.

Lupin Season 3 premieres on October 5, 2023, on Netflix.

Our Flag Means Death Season 2

The show, created by David Jenkins, became one of Max’s most successful shows since premiering in 2022. This is partly due to the friends-to-lovers journey between Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and Blackbeard (Taika Waititi). Season 1 saw their relationship falling through before it could even begin, which left them heartbroken. Stede and Blackbeard go their separate ways as a result.

Also starring are Con O’Neill, Vico Ortiz, Kristian Nairn, Joel Fry, Matthew Maher, Leslie Jones, Samson Kayo, Ewen Bremner, Samba Schutte, Minnie Driver, Madeleine Sami, and Anapela Polataivao.

The Fall of the House of Usher

Netflix brings an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s famous work to its platform. The Fall of the House of Usher is a modern take on the 1839 story. The show seems to take inspiration from the Sackler family for the story of Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood), who is the founder of Fortunato Pharmaceuticals. Roderick must face his past when his heirs begin to die at the hands of a mysterious assailant.

The Fall of the House of Usher is also rumored to be leaning towards other of Poe’s works. The show was created by Mike Flanagan and is his final project for Netflix.

Alongside Greenwood, the cast includes Mary McDonnell, Carla Gugino, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Michael Trucco, TNia Miller, Paola Nunez, Henry Thomas, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, and Robert Longstreet.

Lessons in Chemistry

Created by Lee Eisenberg, Lessons in Chemistry is set in the 1950s and is based on the novel by Bonnie Garmus. The story, stars Brie Larson as a chemist named Elizabeth Zott, fighting to be taken seriously as a woman in her field. After getting fired from her lab, she takes a job as a host of a television cooking show and becomes a favorite of housewives in the country.

Lewis Pullman, Aja Naomi King, Stephanie Koenig, Kevin Sussman, Patrick Walker, and Thomas Mann are also part of the cast.

Lessons in Chemistry premieres on October 13, 2023, on Apple TV+.

Fellow Travelers

The upcoming series Fellow Travelers follows Hawkins Fuller (Matt Bomer), who is looking to advance his political career by keeping his private life private. Tim Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey) enters his life at the time when Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn start their “Lavender Scare” agenda. Fellow Travelers was created by Ron Nyswaner and based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Mallon. The show stretches across decades from the 1950s to the 1980s.

Also starring in Fellow Travelers are Jellani Alladin, Allison Williams, and Noah J. Rickets.

Fellow Travelers premieres on October 27, 2023, on Showtime.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Following the drama-filled buzz surrounding the 2005 film of the same name, the series is also based on the movie version. This follows a couple of assassins, played by Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, who replaced Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Michaela Coel, Parker Posey, John Turturro, Paul Dano, and Allison Picurro also star in the Prime Video series.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith premieres on November 17, 2023, on Prime Video.

Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan Final Season (Part 2)

One of the most popular animes, Attack on Titan, is coming to an end this season after 10 years. The second half of the anime’s final season also comes three years after the first half aired. Given how many years Attack on Titan has been around, it’s no surprise it’s become one of the biggest in anime history. No word yet on an official release date, but know that it’s coming out this fall.
