The popular anthology series American Horror Story returned this year for its 12th season. The current season, American Horror Story: Delicate, aired its first set of episodes this year. After the first half’s release, fans were left wondering about the second half. Here’s what we know so far about American Horror Story: Delicate Part 2.

The Latest Status Update on Part 2

The latest installment of the American Horror Story anthology series is titled Delicate, with the first half having already premiered. The show’s 12th season, which is filming under the working title “Hamptons,” is being split into two parts. The split was due to the SAG-AFTRA strike that started in July, a few months after the WGA took strike action in May.

But as both strikes have already ended, filming for part two started in late November. Production will occur in New York and New Jersey and continue through December 22, 2023. The original filming schedule for the entire season was supposed to take place from April 24 through October 28, 2023.

Showrunner Halley Feiffer also wrote the episodes for American Horror Story: Delicate.

American Horror Story: Delicate Is Based on a Novel

This installment is also the very first AHS season to be based on a novel. American Horror Story: Delicate is based on Danielle Valentine’s novel titled Delicate Condition. The synopsis of the book reads:

“Anna Alcott is desperate to have a family. But as she tries to balance her increasingly public life as an indie actress with a grueling IVF journey, she starts to suspect that someone is going to great lengths to make sure that never happens. Crucial medicines are lost. Appointments get swapped without her knowledge. Cryptic warnings have her jumping at shadows. And despite everything she’s gone through to make this pregnancy a reality, not even her husband is willing to believe that someone is playing twisted games with her.”

The official synopsis of its small-screen adaptation reads:

“In American Horror Story: Delicate, after multiple failed attempts of IVF, actress Anna Victoria Aloctt wants nothing more than to start a family. As the buzz around her recent film grows, she fears that something may be targeting her – and her pursuit of motherhood.”

Who Is in the American Horror Story: Delicate Cast?

For American Horror Story: Delicate, there’s a mix of series regulars and new faces for the new installment. The show’s 12th season stars Emma Roberts as Anna Alcott, the actress who struggles with her increasing popularity and her IVF journey. Reality star Kim Kardashian also joined the cast as Siobhan Corbyn, Anna’s devoted publicist and best friend.

Max Czuchry is Dex Harding, Anna’s artist husband who was previously married to Adeline, who died under mysterious circumstances. Juliana Canfield plays Talia, an artist who was also friends with Dex’s late wife, Adeline. Cara Delevigne plays Ivy, one of the season’s mysterious characters, first seen lurking outside the IVF clinic.

Annabell Dexter-Jones plays Sonia Shawcross, an artist and a fan of Anna’s. She also happens to bear a striking resemblance to Adeline. Julie White is Io Preecher, another mysterious character that constantly appears in the show’s premiere. Maaz Ali is Kamal, someone who “looks like a model playing a security guard, but he actually is a security guard.”

Michaela Jae Rodriguez plays Nicolette, who calls herself Talia’s “house manager.” Leslie Grossman and Billie Lourd play the Ashleys. The Ashleys are crisis PR managers that Siobhan called in Episode 4 to revive Anna’s image. However, they are also seen as witches as they appear in a flashback scene in 1555 England, taking Bloody Mary’s monster baby in exchange for her having a successful reign as queen.

American Horror Story alum Zachary Quinto also appears in the season as an actor presenting Anna an award at the Gotham Awards. Denis O’Hare also returns this season as Anna’s main IVF doctor, Dr. Hill.

What Happened So Far in Part 1?

In the first half of American Horror Story: Delicate, Anna’s award show rival Babette, who just enjoyed a Golden Globe win, was mysteriously killed in a car accident. Babette’s death from the accident came just after Siobhan called Anna to ask how badly she wants an Oscar win. Meanwhile, Dex’s late wife, Adeline, appeared to be connected to the baby cult. This was why his family was being targeted, according to Preecher.

The midseason finale also gave viewers a look into Preecher’s background. It also answered the questions regarding Anna’s situation while suggesting that Dex is in danger.

The fifth episode also saw a flashback to Manhattan in 1987, when a much younger Preecher is giving birth. Preecher says she’s in pain while in labor but is dismissed by the staff. The mysterious figures in goat costumes that have haunted Anna also appeared in Preecher’s hospital room.

Preecher later reveals to Dex’s mother that she gave up her baby, which was conceived from a one-night stand. She gave up the baby to a random woman in exchange for success. Preacher did find success, as she also revealed she sold the patent to her handbag to Marc Jacobs and became rich.

American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy talked about Kardashian and her role to THR.

“Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family,” said Murphy. “Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture.”

Murphy also revealed that showrunner Halley Feiffer also wrote the latest season of the show.
