‘Fire Country’ Season 3: What Fans Need to Know

Fire Country Season 3

Fire Country Season 3 is happening! The procedural drama is still airing it’s second season. However, production notices are already going out for Season 3.

While it’s hard to say what can happen next for Bode Donovan and the rest of the characters, here’s everything we know so far about Fire Country Season 3. Note, possible spoilers ahead for Season 2.

Fire Country Is Returning for Season 3

It’s good news for fans of Fire Country as CBS has officially renewed the series for a third season. The renewal was announced during its second season, which is currently airing. The renewal decision was impacted by the high viewership numbers when Fire Country changed timeslots between its first and second seasons, which secured Fire Country Season 3 as part of the network’s 2024-2025 slate of shows.

Ghosts and Fire Country are proven viewer favorites on both broadcast and streaming thanks to exceptional storytelling, talented actors, and an ever-growing fanbase. We are elated to keep the momentum going and bring them back to CBS next season,” said CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach.

Fire Country’s renewal and being part of the 2024-2025 slate of shows may also mean Season 3 will go back to its usual episode count. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023 cut down the show’s Season 2 episode count to 10.

Season 3 Cast

For Fire Country Season 3, it can be hard to determine which cast members will be returning. Those most likely to return include Max Theriot as Bode Donovan and Stephanie Arcilla as Gabriela. Rafael de la Fuente may also return as Diego for Season 3.

It is also unclear whether Morena Baccarin will return for Season 3 as Sherriff Mickey.

Other cast members also likely to return in Season 3 include Diane Farr as Sharon Leone, Billy Burke as Vince Leone, Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez, Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford, and Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards.

Regarding the dynamic between Bode and Gabriela in Season 2, Thieriot told Collider that fans of the pair shouldn’t lose hope.

“With the two of them, there’s always hope. What I’ll say is, I think it would be a disservice to that story if all of a sudden, she broke off their engagement in the next episode. It’s certainly a storyline that will exist for a while. In a weird way, what people want to see is that push and pull. You know that deep down, both of these people had a connection with each other that was something that only exists in fairy tales. They had that magnetic connection that is undeniable.”

Thieriot also shared how the possible revelation of Bode having a daughter will affect their relationship.

“With Gabriela, Bode found this person that changed him a bit. And he found a way to really love again and open his heart. But the biggest thing is that Bode has been unable to change the person that he had to become by being incarcerated. He put up a lot of inner walls just to protect himself in there, and he hasn’t been able to take them down.”

Season 3 Plot

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Fire Country centers on a young convict named Bode Donovan. Bode joins the California Conservation Camp Program where he and fellow inmates help fight the state’s dangerous wildfires. The show premiered in 2022 and has become one of the most successful programs on CBS. Fire Country is one of the top six most-watched shows on Paramount+ and, in February, was the fourth-most watched.

What to Expect Next Season

As Season 2 is still currently airing, it’s hard to say what fans can expect in Season 3. So far, when the second season began, Bode was behind bars, and that issue may soon be resolved before the season ends. However, it was hinted that there will be some surprising developments in Bode and Gabriela’s relationship.

Max Thieriot shared that expanding Fire Country was always part of the discussions with co-creators Tony Phelan and Joan Rater.

“Myself and the writers, and Tony and Joan, and all of our producers are always contemplating character and storylines and things. Everybody will chime in with individual things that they would love to see. And then we figure out things that we can pull off. I’m always dreaming of all sorts of different stuff that I wanna do. And sometimes they’re like, ‘That’s just not realistic.’ But I’m always thinking about ways that we can either do better or come up with clever ways to do things that are different, think outside the box, show things that haven’t really been seen on television, and just overall push the envelope,” Thieriot told Collider.

Fire Country Season 3 Release Date Updates

There’s no official premiere date yet for Fire Country Season 3. The second season is currently airing and is set to wrap on April 4, 2024. Production for the upcoming season is expected to start in the summer of 2024 in Vancouver.

In the same interview with Collider, Thieriot revealed that the show’s producers have thought of a possible spinoff.

“I was talking about spin-offs in my own head when I was coming up with Fire Country. That’s just my brain. I’m always like, ‘And then, this can happen. And then, we could have this thing.’ I’m always a little ahead of myself in that way, putting the cart before the horse. We all love this world. And for a long time, the producers have always been talking about storylines and characters. And figuring out ways to explore the world and explore the show, and tell a lot of stories in the Fire Country world,” said Thieriot.

“I don’t know if there were any specifics. But I’m always trying to figure out ways to do things that are cool and different and how we can keep doing better. I’m super excited to have Morena come on the show and I’m really excited for her character. I think everybody will be really excited to meet her. I honestly couldn’t be more pumped. We’re always working on all sorts of things, and we’ll share those things when we can. We can always do more, and we can always do better. We all just love this world, so we wanna see all the parts of it,” said Thieriot.

Meanwhile, fans can rewatch the first two seasons on Paramount+. Fire Country Season 2 is currently airing every Friday at 9 PM ET on CBS.
