Deadmau5 Threatening to Take Legal Action Against Disney

Deadmau5 has stepped up his feud with Disney bosses by accusing them of using one of his songs without permission.

The DJ, who has been embroiled in a trademark dispute with Disney officials since last year , sent a cease and desist letter on Thursday claiming they did not have the right to use his track “Ghosts ‘N’ Stuff” in an animated short film.

Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, claims they infringed his trademarks and copyright, and his lawyer Dina LaPolt has warned she will pursue legal action if the footage is not taken down from the company’s website.

Zimmerman posted a scan of the letter onto his page, adding, “Let’s test a theory, it takes em (them) 10 years to oppose a trademark, let’s see how long it takes em to take down a video (sic)… Can I has trademark now? thnks (sic)… I wish Disney wasn’t such a ‘corporation’. We could have done great things together (sic)”.

The DJ filed a trademark application in the U.S. last year and Disney bosses have since launched legal action to stop it being approved because they believe his headgear and logo is too similar to their iconic image of Mickey Mouse.
