‘It’ Casts ‘The Maze Runner’ Star Will Poulter as Pennywise the Clown

Stephen King’s It remake has found its Pennywise the Clown in The Maze Runner and We’re the Millers star Will Poulter, in a surprise casting announcement.

The news was announced that the 22-year-old is currently in negotiations for the role of one of horror’s most nightmare inducing beings in Cary Fukunaga’s upcoming two-part adaptation of Stephen King‘s It. According to Screen Crush, “Warner Bros. executives were watching the dailies for Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu’s The Revenant, they suggested Poulter to Fukunaga who was “blown away” by the 22-year-old’s audition.” Bloodlines star Ben Mendelsohn was previously eyed for the role, but when that fell through, Fukunaga decided to go a little younger for the part.

The plan for the film is that it will be shot altogether, but released as two separate movies, one following the Derry gang as kids and the other as they come back together to battle Pennywise as an adult.

We know he has some huge shoes to fill with Tim Curry’s iconic performance in the role but what are your thoughts on Will’s casting? Will you check out the It reboot when it hits theaters? Talk to us in the comments below (since they all float down there)!
