When Ash returns to fight the Deadites in Ash vs Evil Dead, he won’t be heading into battle alone.
The new featurette gives fans more background on the show , as well as introducing them to Ash’s two sidekicks Pablo Simon Bolivar (Ray Santiago) and Kelly Maxwell (Dana DeLorenzo), policewoman Amanda Fisher (Jill Marie Jones) and “mysterious figure” Ruby (Lucy Lawless).
Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi adds that when we meet middle-aged Ash, “he’s selfish, egotistical.” “Ash Williams is the everyday man,” says Bruce of his character. “He’s your neighbor who knows nothing. He has no special skills, he’s not interested in saving the world.”
Lucky for him, he’ll have two able-bodied helpers that are a little more enthusiastic about their new world-saving expectations.
“Pablo is Ash’s buddy. We work at the Valu Stop together,” describes Santiago. “He idolizes Ash because he needs something to believe in.” How cute! But of course, Ash doesn’t appreciate his new aide as much as he should. “Ash and Pablo, it’s very side-kicky. [Ash is] sort of a mentor and a tormentor,” says Campbell of the pair’s relationship.
Bruce’s other sidekick Kelly “is this sarcastic, tough, quick-witted, loyal friend to Pablo…but she’s definitely a bad-ass in the making,” according to DeLorenzo. She’s also described in the promo as the “brains behind the operation,” which, if you know Ash, you know will be in short supply.
Bruce Campbell promises that Ash vs. Evil Dead will be the wildest ride you’ve taken.”
While we wait to see whether or not that’s true, check out the featurette, and learn more about Lucy Lawless and Jill Marie Jones’ roles, below:
The 10-episode first season of the series will be executive produced by original Evil Dead series creator Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell.
