Parks and Rec Special Charity Episode to Air Next Week

Parks and Rec fans are thrilled after news broke today that the series is coming back for an episode this month. On April 30th, the cast is getting together for a charity event. Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund helps food banks across the US and also offers assistance to vulnerable citizens.

In a tweet from the NBC Entertainment Twitter account, the special episode was announced.

Fans will get the chance to see the actors who portrayed the characters that they admire. Each actor and actress will appear in their homes, in character, for the event. At the heart and soul of it all is Pawnee favorite, Leslie Knope. While social distancing, Leslie realizes the importance of keeping in touch with those she loves.

Mike Schur, executive producer and co-creator, had this to say about getting the cast back together to help make a difference.

“Like a lot of other people, we were looking for ways to help and felt that bringing these characters back for a night could raise some money. I sent a hopeful email to the cast and they all got back to me within 45 minutes. Our old Parks and Rec team has put together one more 30-minute slice of quarantined Pawnee life and we hope everyone enjoys it. And donates!”

The episode will air on NBC on April 30th. So you might just want to free up some space on the DVR and record what’s sure to be an exciting moment for fans of the series.
