‘Ouiji’ Scores Top Box Office Spot for Opening Weekend

Horror film Ouiji has scared its way to the top of the North American box office in its opening weekend.

The scary flick, featuring Bates Motel starlet Olivia Cooke, earned $20 million, topping Keanu Reeves’ revenge drama John Wick, which scored $14.1 million. Even more impressive, although the film hasn’t been received by critics all that well, it managed to clean up over $911,000 in Thursday night sales.

Brad Pitt’s war drama Fury comes in at number three with $13 million, while Ben Affleck’s twisted thriller Gone Girl and the beautifully animated The Book of Life round out the top five.

FanBolt had the opportunity to check out Gone Girl and here’s what we thought. If you’ve had a chance to see any of the top films from the past weekend, be sure to let us know what you thought in the comments below!
