AMC Releases New ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Character Art

Fear The Walking Dead will be infecting us all soon enough, but until that day comes, let’s use the time we have left to learn all we can about it.

The Walking Dead companion series is set in LA and will follow a family as they try to survive the beginnings of the apocalypse. New photos from the series have been popping up all over the place today and we’ve rounded a few of them up.

The series has been described as a “family drama” multiple times by those involved, which means we’ll get a very different filter to view the events through than what fans received in The Walking Dead. “What we are trying to do is start with holding on to the family drama as our main story, and then bringing in the apocalypse into it,” FTWD Executive producer Dave Erickson told Variety.

The meat of the family drama is simple to understand: Travis is a recently-divorced father who’s trying to move on with his life. He’s moved in with his girlfriend Madison and her two teenage kids, Nick and Alycia, and neither they nor Travis’ son is too excited about their new blended situation. Then there’s the zombies.

Fear The Walking Dead stars Kim Dickens as guidance counselor Madison; Cliff Curtis as Travis, a teacher who is involved with Madison; Frank Dillane as Madison’s troubled, drug-addicted son Nick; Alycia Debnam-Carey as Madison’s overachiever daughter Alicia; Elizabeth Rodriguez as Travis’ ex-wife Liza; Ruben Blades as Daniel Salazar; Mercedes Mason as Daniel’s daughter Ofelia, and Lorenzo James Henrie as Chris, Travis’ son.

Try not to get infected when the series premieres on AMC August 23 at 9 p.m.
