‘Supergirl’ Cast Discusses Spirit of the Show in New Featurette

The cast of Supergirl loves the series for its heart and we’re willing to bet audiences will too.

The bosses and stars of the new superhero show talked breaking barriers, spreading good and how the female caped crusader is really just like us.

Melissa Benoist clearly loves her character, appearing almost getting choked up in the promo while talking about her, and rightfully so. “She just wants so badly to spread good in the world,” said the star. “I think that’s the really beautiful thing about her because she lost so much. She wants to do more for this planet that she lives on now.”

Jeremy Jordan, who plays Winn Schott, loves that the show is breaking barriers in its own way. “It’s something that’s sort of new in that we have a female superhero for the first time really in the forefront of television.”

Also giving their thoughts about the series in the 3-minute video are Calista Flockhart and executive producers Andrew Kreisberg, Ali Adler and Greg Berlanti, who says that audiences will connect with Supergirl because she is “somebody who’s like us emotionally, but still is claiming their full power and overcoming something.”

Take a look at the featurette below:

Supergirl heads to CBS with a special premiere of Monday, Oct. 26, at 8:30/7:30c. The series will then move to its usual time slot, (Mondays at 8 pm) on Nov. 2.
