Chris Pratt is an American-born actor who best known for his work as Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation and Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. Having started in Hollywood in the early 2000s, Pratt has more than 65 acting credits to his name.

Pratt has starred in massive blockbusters such as Jurassic Park and Avengers: Endgame. But it’s not just his work in front of the camera that has contributed to his success. Early Life

Christopher Michael Pratt was born on the 21st of June 1979. in Virginia, Minnesota. His mother is Norwegian and was a grocery store employee. And his father was in the mining industry and unfortunately passed in 2014 due to multiple sclerosis.

Pratt grew up in Lake Stevens, Washington, and attended Lake Stevens High School. He participated in competitive wrestling while in school and was even quite good at it. However, when he started community college, he eventually dropped out after just a couple of months.

Pratt sustained himself for a while by stripping. But he eventually became homeless while living in Maui, Hawaii.

Acting Career

In 1998, Pratt was working as a waiter in Maui when Rae Dawn Chong, an actress and director, noticed him. She was then working on her first directorial film, Cursed Part 3, which was released in 2000She cast him in the movie, and the rest would soon become history.

A couple of short years later, Pratt was cast to play Bright Abbott in the TV show Everwood. It was a major role, and he appeared in 89 episodes of the WB series. He even earned a few Teen Choice Awards nominations for his work on the show. Following his work on Everwood, several minor movie roles followed, including The Extreme Team, Strangers with Candy, Walk the Talk, Wieners, and Wanted. 

In 2006, Pratt joined the hugely successful The O.C. as Ché. He appeared in 9 episodes of the series.

Parks and Recreation

Chris Pratt’s big television break came in 2009 when he was cast as Andy Dwyer in NBC’s Parks and Recreation. Originally, Pratt was only supposed to be in six episodes. But the showrunners loved him so much that he would end up appearing in 126 episodes of the series.

He took a short break from the show in season six while filming Guardians of the Galaxy. However, Pratt’s absence was written into the series, and he returned by mid-season. Though, when Pratt did return, he looked quite a bit more in shape due to his workout schedule for the Marvel film. Parks and Rec writers explained the character’s physique change by saying Andy quit drinking beer. 

The television roles did impact Chris Pratt’s net worth, but nothing compared to what was coming for the actor with the MCU movies as well as the Jurassic World franchise.

2018’s Avengers: Infinity War is Pratt’s second most successful film of all time, earning just over $2 billion worldwide on its $321 million budget. It’s reported that Pratt made $5 million for his brief appearance in the film.

2019 brought Avengers: Endgame, the second highest-grossing film of all time and Pratt’s highest-grossing movie to date. The film grossed $2.8 billion worldwide on its massive $356 million budget.

Thor: Love and Thunder

In 2022, Pratt stepped back into the role of Star-Lord in Thor: Love and Thunder. And while not a major character in the film, the movie still clocks in as his eighth most successful film, grossing $755 million worldwide on its $250 million budget.

Aside from the MCU, the Jurassic World film franchise has also been incredibly lucrative for Chris Pratt. The first movie, Jurassic World, was released in 2015 and grossed over $1.67 billion worldwide. The movie sits at number three of Pratt’s most successful films to date.

In 2018, the sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, was released. Out of the film’s $170 million budget, it’s reported that $10 million of that was Pratt’s salary for the film. The second film was also a success for the studios, grossing $1.31 billion worldwide.

Pratt also lent his voice to the character of Emmet Brickowski in 2014’s The Lego Movie, which is Pratt’s ninth most successful film to date. It grossed $468 million on its $60 million budget. In the 2019 sequel, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Pratt reprised his role and also portrayed a second character, Rex Dangervest. 

In 2016, Pratt reportedly received an all-time high salary of $12 million for his role in Passengers. Pratt and co-star Jennifer Lawrence’s salaries accounted for a little over 20% of the film’s overall $110 million budget. The movie went on to gross $330 million worldwide.

Chris Pratt’s net worth is also impacted by his real estate investments. In 2021, he and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger moved into their $15.6 million home in the Pacific Palisades. Pratt had purchased the property in an off-market deal in 2018. And then the couple completely gutted the property. Two years later, they had the perfect 10,000 square-foot property for themselves, which includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms, an infinity edge swimming pool, a wine cellar, and more.

In 2020, Pratt and his ex-wife, actress Anna Faris, accepted an offer on their previous home. The former couple had listed the Hollywood Hills West property around the time of their split. Initially purchasing the house in 2014 for $3.3 million, Pratt and Faris eventually sold it for $4.75 million.

Personal Life

In 2007, Pratt co-starred with Anna Faris in the film Take Me Home Tonight, which would later release in 2011. Sparks flew on the set, and the two became a couple, getting engaged just a year later. In 2009, after attending a friend’s wedding in Bali, the two got caught up in the moment and decided to get married as well.

Three years later, Faris gave birth to their son Jack, who was nine weeks premature. Sadly, the two decided to part ways in 2017. And by 2018, their divorce had been finalized. But happiness was right around the corner for Pratt.

Shortly after his divorce from Faris, Pratt was introduced by Maria Shriver to her daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger. The couple hit it off immediately. And by June 2019, they were married, flying to Lanai Island in Hawaii, where they spent their honeymoon.

Pratt and Schwarzenegger now have two daughters. The eldest is 2-year-old Lyla Maria Schwarzenegger Pratt, who was born in 2020. And their second daughter was born in May 2022.
