New ‘Supergirl’ Trailer Showcases Superpowers and Villains
Supergirl is showing off her superpowers, while the CBS series itself flexes its special effects powers, in the new trailer, which features some pretty cool never-before-seen footage.
Melissa Benoist stars as the titular character and cousin of Superman, whose real name is Kara Zor-El. In the trailer we hear her declare that “Earth doesn’t have just one hero anymore. Now it has Supergirl.” She then proceeds to kick some serious butt throughout the rest of the video, thus proving her point.
Some of the Supergirl’s villains are also shown, including our first look at Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, described as “a green tech billionaire who enjoys a friendly rivalry with Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) and a fascination with National City’s newest arrival — Supergirl.”
Fans even get a little surprise info at the end, when Supergirl flies in to meet James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan), both of whom know her big secret but don’t know that the other knows. It’s a pretty cute moment and way less confusing to understand when you watch:
Kara Zor-El/Supergirl escaped Krypton amid its destruction years ago, hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman, since arriving on Earth. The series will follow her now, at age 24, as she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always meant to be.
Supergirl flies to CBS Monday, October 26, at a special time of 8:30/7:30c, and will then air Mondays at 8/7c.
