Jeffrey Dean Morgan Reportedly Joins ‘The Walking Dead’ as Negan

Jeffrey-Dean-Morgan

The most recent role that fans of The Walking Dead have been itching for casting news about is comicbook uber villain Negan. It looks like that wait is now over.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has reportedly landed the role of the Lucille-toting, maniacal big bad on the hit AMC series, according to TV Line. Morgan is known for his roles in Supernatural, The Good Wife, Grey’s Anatomy, Extant and many more.

In the comics, Negan leads a group called The Saviors who survive by using violence to extort food and whatever else they may need from other survivors.

Fans can look out for Negan to make his first appearance toward the end of the show’s current sixth season and he’ll be sticking around for season seven as well.

AMC previously put out a casting call for ‘ORIN’, “an imposing, charismatic, brutal, frightening, ferocious and hilarious sociopath in his 30s to mid-40s that is both a leader (and killer) of men.” It was speculated that this was actually the casting call for Negan and it looks like that theory was right.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW!

Since Negan’s appearance signals the end for Glenn, whether or not Glenn ends up alive or dead could affect who, in turn, ends up on the wrong end of Lucille. Not to mention, the show is known to vary from the comics in some ways, so it’s currently unknown which character will meet that infamously grisly end.

You can tune into new episodes of The Walking Dead, Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.
