Kim Justice Talks Retro Gaming and Representation
The day of the angry reviewer has thankfully passed on YouTube. No longer do profanity-laden diatribes hold prominence when it comes to retro video gaming and classic films of the ‘80s and ‘90s. From the ashes of AVGN and Nostalgia Critic have come a group of creators who focus on the more detailed aspects of our favorite pastimes. Folks like DJ Slope, Guru Larry, Oliver Harper, and Kim Justice have taken up the mantle of suppliers of retro-focused information with documentary styled videos that are rife with facts, yet retaining that perfect degree of charisma that keeps us from clicking elsewhere.
This week I sat down with Kim Justice to speak about a bevy of topic: how to deal with the ups & downs of being at the whim of YouTube’s arbitrary rules and the evolution of acceptance and representation of trans people in media.
