‘Reign’ Star Alan Van Sprang Joins ‘Shadowhunters’
Reign fans may recognize Van Sprang as King Henry II, but the actor will be taking on the role of Valentine, a rogue Shadowhunter villain, in the new ABC Family series Shadowhunters.
The series is based on The Mortal Instruments novels and will follow the story of Clary Fray as she’s thrown into the world of demon hunting after her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped. She travels with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend Simon, and living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.
Van Sprang’s Valentine is a brilliant, cunning, dangerously handsome Shadowhunter who wields immense power. His stoic, charming, and confident presence allows him control over his many followers. To seek out what he wants, Valentine executes anyone in his way, never thinking twice about it.
Van Sprang will be a recurring guest star in the series and joins castmembers Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Dominic Sherwood as Jace, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway, Alberto Rosende as Simon and Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle.
